The Lois McClure, caught on its way from Port Washington to Mechanicville NY. She is being navigated by a tiny tug barely visible on her starboard side. This is a replica of an 1862 canal schooner. It was built in Burlington VT and is operated by the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Plans were made up for the replica by diving on 2 wrecks of boats of this class in Lake Champlain. These boats could sail on the lake and then be pulled through the canal between the lake and the Hudson River. The Lois McClure is completing its visits at ports up and down the Hudson, NJ and Long Island before returning to the Museum at Basin Harbor, Vergennes, VT. This picture was taken with my FZ20 and teleconverter at 600mm hence some distortion caused by shooting over open water with a long zoom.
